Cohort
A cohort corresponds to a group of people who share a characteristic and are followed over time.
The MELISA Institute Preconception Cohort
Our goal is to be able to get closer to knowing the molecular dialogue between the mother and the embryo. For this we have designed a pre-conception cohort in which we collect biological samples and information on non-conceptional cycles, cycles with abstinence and cycles in which a pregnancy occurs. This type of information is very useful for conducting prospective longitudinal studies.
The samples stored in our biorepository correspond to cervicovaginal fluid, blood, urine and saliva. The samples are collected by a team of health professionals from MELISA Institute, following our clinical protocol approved by the scientific and ethical committee accredited in Chile. For the processing and storage of samples a standardized procedure is used to be used in subsequent studies.
